Hi,Ziwang. Thank you for this post. I like your discussion of culture industry, it is really interesting! You said ” cultural industry creates false needs and desires for us, instead of letting us choose our preferences. Under such context, our connections with others online might also be false, which means that the benefits of public communications are based on false connections.” This is a very deep thought, I don’t know if I can fathom this idea, but I think social network is not about the desire to buy, but the desire to connect.

Hi Jiawei. Thank you for this post, I am intrigued by your comment under “how are we motivated to participate in networked publics”, You said “I think that by participating in online public on the internet, we have the opportunity to learn knowledge without having to attend lectures or meet people in person. This is a very good experience.” Haha! You have spoken my mind. I am a little big social phobia, If I can text, I wouldn’t call. I always sit at the back of the classroom to avoid communication. I feel like I am more active when we moved class online, I am more willing to partcipate, and connect with others. The chatbox in Zoom lectures is one of the things I love, haha!

Hi Ziwang. Thank you for this post. I really appreciate you voice your opinion in regards to women’s digital idenity. I think that having a digital idenity is actually a privilege, it is not a norm. Many people cannot access to the internet, and I feel like, the barrier of access is not discussed a lot. We live in a digital era, and Individuals who lack the access to public resources offline, are also the individuals who lack the access to online resources.
